Bolton Arena Raises Over £4,200 for Bolton Hospice in £50 Challenge

· Elliot Fletcher

Bolton Arena is proud to announce its success in the 2024 Bolton Hospice £50 Challenge, raising an impressive £4,263.99 for the local charity in just three months. From May 1st to July 31st, Bolton Arena joined 17 local businesses across Bolton to participate in the fundraising challenge, with each company starting with £50 and aiming to raise as much as possible for Bolton Hospice.

The Bolton Hospice £50 Challenge invites local businesses to get creative with their fundraising efforts. As the organiser put it, “If it’s legal, it’s fine.” The EGG team at Bolton Arena took this motto to heart, organising a series of successful events including a 10k run, bake sales, book sales, raffles, and more. One of the key contributors was the Arena’s own Color Run event, where all profits were donated to the cause.

The dedication of Bolton Arena’s staff, combined with the generosity of participants and customers, helped the team achieve this outstanding fundraising total . On September 24th, members of the EGG team Kerry Macdonald, Stuart Kay, Ceri Gillingham, and Zoe Jackson attended an awards ceremony where it was announced that the grand combined total of money raised for the challenge was a whopping £21,630 and Bolton Arena proudly secured 2nd place out of the 17 companies involved.  In addition, the Arena won the prestigious “Most Sporting Team” award, one of just four accolades presented on the night.

“We are incredibly proud of this achievement,” said Kerry Macdonald, Senior Customer Service Manager at Bolton Arena. “Raising over £4,200 in such a short space of time is a fantastic accomplishment, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our staff and community. Whether it was baking a cake, donating a prize, buying a raffle ticket, or taking part in the events, every contribution helped us make a difference.”

Looking ahead to 2025, Bolton Arena is committed to continuing its support for Bolton Hospice and will once again participate in the £50 Challenge, aiming to take the top spot next year. The Arena welcomes anyone with fundraising ideas or suggestions to get involved and help them make an even bigger impact.

Bolton Arena is proud to support Bolton Hospice, which provides compassionate care and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses in the local community. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
