Beginner & Intermediate Gymnastics

Our gymnastic syllabus allows for children to develop their skills further using the various gymnastic apparatus.

About our Beginner & Intermediate sessions

Children and teens aged 4 to 16 years

Overview

The gymnastic syllabus focuses on the gymnastic skills for the floor, bars, beam and vault apparatus. Children also work on their balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination.

What to expect

Our classes start with a pulse-raising activity or game, followed by a full body stretch from head to toe. The gymnasts are then split into groups and will focus on two pieces of apparatus for the session. The gymnasts will rotate from floor and vault one week to bars and beam the following week. Each session will finish 5 minutes early to allow time for the coaches to hand out their star of the week certificates. These will be handed to one gymnast per group. If you’re interested in signing up, please complete the contact form below. For more information about our beginner & intermediate classes, call us on 01204488126.

Beginner & Intermediate Gymnastics at Bolton Arena

Enjoy Beginner & Intermediate Gymnastics at Bolton Arena, our flagship venue at Arena Approach.

We run four blocks of classes throughout the year. The number of weeks in each block ranges between 14 and 17, with a short block over the summer period, and a week off at the end of summer holidays and over Christmas.

Once your child is enrolled on a block you will be notified about re-enrolment four weeks before the next block starts. There is a two-week window to make payment to secure your child’s place before we offer it to our waiting list.

Our gymnastic syllabus focuses on skills for the floor, bars, beam and vault apparatus. Children also work on their balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination.

We start with a pulse-raising warm up on the floor area – all designed to incorporate strength, flexibility and mobility exercises essential for gymnastic progression – and then focus on two pieces of apparatus for the session.

Our gymnasts rotate between beam and bars one week and vault and floor the next.

Our class ratio is nine children to one coach, who divides the class into three groups of three to work on skills related to that week’s apparatus. This allows the children to maximise their time practising and not waiting for turns. As an integral part of our coaching ethos, extra help is given to those who need it.

Once a child reaches the required level they are invited to join an advanced class.
