RPDC – Sports Science

The Sports Science department covers the development, assessment and monitoring of all the tennis players.

The Sports Science department covers the development, assessment and monitoring of all the tennis players. We have a multi-disciplinary team with years of experience developing youth athletes and professional players.

The latest youth development research and extensive experience of the coaches guide the integrative programming. We have on-site physiotherapists who assess and manage our athletes, in addition. sports nutritionists, sport psychologists and regular player development meetings with the tennis coaches ensure a holistic approach to development.

The strength and conditioning program is a long-term athlete development curriculum, ensuring players receive age-relevant training. The primary aims are to teach and master fundamental movement skills, reduce the risk of injury and improve tennis-specific performance.

Sessions are delivered primarily through groups that are attached to tennis squads, the content of which includes agility, balance, coordination, speed, flexibility and age-appropriate strength work. Player can increase their physical program by accessing individualised sessions with our strength and conditioning coaches.
