Active Bolton Partners with Lend A Hand to Support Local Families

· Tom Giblin

Active Bolton has partnered with local community group Lend A Hand to help redistribute new and used school uniforms and stationery to communities across Bolton.

Over the past three weeks, customers have used collection boxes provided at Active Bolton Arena and Active Bolton Horwich, to donate items that will be reused by local families rather than going to landfill.

An impressive total of 17 bin bags of donations were collected across the two sites.

Lend A Hand will now distribute the donated uniform and stationary, helping families to access essential school items and giving the unwanted clothing and equipment a second life.

Following the success of this year’s collection, Active Bolton is planning to expand the initiative next year, with collections potentially taking place across all six Active Bolton sites, allowing even more local communities to benefit.

Stuart Kay, Sport & Communities Director at Active Bolton, said:

“It’s so pleasing to see how quickly our customers have responded and donated new and used school uniform and stationery. It’s fantastic that these items can be reused to support local families rather than ending up in landfill. We look forward to continuing to support Lend A Hand and growing this partnership in the near future.”

The partnership highlights the positive impact that local organisations can have when they collaborate and work together, supporting families in the community whilst promoting reuse and reducing waste.
